Step 2 Play Up Picnic Cottage Review

Are you tired of seeing huge refrigerator boxes in the middle of your living room that your kids have transformed into a makeshift playhouse or fort, well you are in luck because we now have the Step 2 Play Up Picnic Cottage.

The Step 2 Playhouse is a large, robust and relatively easy to move around playhouse that is large enough to hold at least 3 to 4 little toddlers comfortably.  I am a fully grown adult and I was able to sit inside of the playhouse, with legs crossed and there was still enough room for my two year old to join me as well as we played house.

Step 2 Play Up Picnic Cottage

There are some great features that come with the Step 2 Play Up Picnic Cottage.

  • First of all, it can be used as an indoor toy or you can use it in your backyard, outside.
  • The instructions that come in the box are very intuitive and easy to read and follow. All you would need is a Phillips screwdriver (I would strongly recommend using an electric screwdriver seeing that the screws are quite long and your forearms would get tired if you were to use a regular screw driver and lots of elbow grease.
  • There is a real battery powered doorbell that gives a realistic “ding dong” chime when the little yellow button is pressed. Two (2) AAA batteries are needed to power the doorbell (batteries not included) and these batteries are securely hidden away within the structure of the house after you have installed them with the intent of keeping them out of reach of children
  • When you enter the house via the front door, on the left hand side there is a little kitchen sink and plastic water faucet and on the right hand side there is a little pretend fireplace (there is a fireplace decal sticker that comes with the Step 2 Play Up Picnic Cottage).
  • There is a mini table located at the back of the house as well.
  • In addition to the fireplace sticker there are also a collection of other stickers that come with the house that you can use, such as:
    • Backlit windows
    • Flower gardens
    • Mailbox for your mail

Assembly takes about 20 minutes.

I created a couple videos (see below) that shows how to build the Step 2 Play Up Picnic Cottage.
