10. Earthwork Jim
Earthworm Jim is a side scrolling platform game where you control a character called “Jim” who is actually a worm with cool combat capabilities. Armed with a gun, Jim has to go through several worlds, each with a unique huge boss battle at the end.

What is makes this game really stand out from other typical 2D run and gun games is the fluid animation of the in game characters. In addition to using his gun, Jim can also attack his enemies using his head. Ok, so I must admit that I have a true soft spot for side scrolling brawlers and if there is one other brawler that I absolutely love next to the ever popular Double Dragon, it is Final Fight. This is such a great game so we agreed that it should be part of the SNES Best Games Of All Time list.

I must have lost about 6 months worth or my lunch money feeding quarters into the Final Fight arcade machines after school. Anyway, enough with the reminiscing, Final Fight was originally release in the arcades ihe same year the the Nintendo GameBoy was born, and that was back in 1989. It then was ported on the SNES Home console in Japan in 1990 and then it eventually was available in US SNES home consoles in 1991.

The SNES had three characters that you could choose from, including the giant Haggar who was the mayor of the city. The objective of the game was to rescue the mayor’s kidnapped daughter. There are several levels, including the slums, subway and many others.

4. Super Mario Kart
Mario fans will remember when Super Mario Kart came out on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1992 in both the Japanese and United States markets and it was the first in a long line of Super Mario Kart game versions which exist today on the ever popular Nintendo Switch game console which was recently released in 2017.

The objective of the game follows a similar pattern in most the Zelda games that have been created. In short, you play the character of Link who has to rescue Princess Zelda from the clutches of the evil Ganon.
