LG MAGNIT 4K 136-INCH MICRO LED Smart TV Review (2022)

LG MAGNIT 4K 136-inch Micro LED TV

Introducing the LG MAGNIT 4K 136-Inch Smart TV

LG electronics USA showcased the LG MAGNIT 4K 136-inch Micro LED smart TV in Dallas in 2022 at the CEDIA Expo 2022 which was last year.  It was also put on display at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in January of 2023 where I was privileged to see this behemoth of a TV in person and I must say that I was impressed.

The TV Operating System

The LG MAGNIT 4K 136-inch Micro TV is powered by LG’s webOS smart TV operating system.  That means there is that immersive user interface that optimizes how consumers can peruse and consume their favorite streaming content, play video games, surf the Internet as well as get access to a huge library of TV based applications.

LG’s Built-In AI Technology

Other features that come with this operating system include screen sharing and artificial intelligence (AI) enhanced video processing. This AI technology is powered by LG’s Alpha 9 Processor.

The main function of the AI processor is to ensure that the picture quality on the TV screen is at its best quality depending on the lighting conditions of the room that the TV operates in. In technical terms it basically minimizes the picture noise, optimizes the screen saturation and the color contrast depending on the room’s light conditions.

In addition to the general picture quality enhancements, the AI technology also is designed to vastly improve the look of text and faces on the large screen as well.

Screen Sharing Technology

The LG MAGNIT 4K 136 inch smart TV has a mobile app feature that gives it’s user the power to easily upload digital artwork that can be displayed on the huge 136-inch display.  This feature is ideal for those art lovers who want to add character to their living room whereby a TV such as this can easily be converted to a huge canvas for artwork.

Micro LED Technology

With micro-LED technology the main advantage is that the contrasts between black and white colors are truly amazing.  The way that this works is that there are literally millions of individual diodes that are responsible for illuminating those colored LED pixels and this means that when the color LED is showing the color black, the LED diode that illuminates that pixel is switched off, this making the color black a very deep dark black indeed.  This in turn creates stunning picture quality, and when you couple that technology with a huge viewing plane that has 136-inch diagonal dimensions, the viewer gets to enjoy a truly immersive viewing experience.

Ports

What good is a smart TV if there are not enough varieties of high speed ports to connect you cable set top box, video game consoles and multimedia players too.  The LG MAGNIT 4K 136-inch smart TV comes with the following port configuration:

  • Four (4) HDMI ports
  • One (1) Local Area Port (also known as a LAN port that uses an RJ45 type connector)
  • A digital out audio port.  This is used to connect your TV to a surround sound system. Speaking of sound systems, the Beolab home speaker surround sound system from Bang and Olufsen is the preferred sound system for this particular premium level LG smart TV.
  • Two (2) USB ports and
  • One (1) RS232C port which is ideal for TV diagnostics and service updates.  This port is normally used by TV service technicians.

Availability

At the time that I write this blog, my understanding is that this model of LG TV is currently available for the United States market only.
