BlackBerry Passport Review

BlackBerry Passport Review

BlackBerry has finally decided to think outside of the box when their product design team came up with the BlackBerry Passport.  This blog post is all about the BlackBerry Passport Review.  This phone is not your normal run-of-the-mill rectangular piece if plastic, glass and electronics.  In fact it is actually a square-looking piece of plastic, glass and electronics!  The name “Passport” has a significant meaning in that it is indeed the same exact size of a typical passport.

What I like about this form factor is the fact that the huge square screen (which is also a capacitative touch screen mind you) makes it ideal for reading documents and email without the need to pinch and zoom in and out like you would normally do on a rectangular form factor touch screen phone.  I must admit, after using this phone for a while I did not need to revert to my large screen tablet for most of the time when I wanted to access and read document attachments in emails.

The screen is also just the perfect size when doing mini presentations at a restaurant or when I am doing an elevator pitch to my boss for a new product.  Hats off to BlackBerry for finally making an all-in-one enterprise level device that can really make you productive while on the go.

Yes, this phone is designed for the corporate world in mind and I would suspect that it would be a big hit for CEOs and executive level business people.  I would also assume that die-hard BlackBerry fans will also be attracted to this device.

The landscape-style keyboard along the bottom is also a nice touch, keeping aligned with BlackBerry’s known reputation for creating great keyboards for their mobile phone lineup.  What I like about this keyboard is the fact that there are also a row of soft keys that appear just above the keyboard when you need to get those extra buttons like numbers and symbols and the like.  The keys on the keyboard themselves are also touch sensitive so you can actually swipe your fingers across the keyboard when navigating menus and such.
