The Dreamgear Retro Arcade Machine X has a fully functional 4 way joystick located on the left hand side that actually looks like a mini lollipop as well as to action buttons labeled “A” and “B” on the right hand side.  The red joystick and buttons are all illuminated so the the game system looks very nice in a dark room.

There are also 3 more buttons on the front of the mini cabinet. From left to right you have your start key which is used for starting games as well as pausing them.  Next, there is the reset key which is used to reset games that are in play and will automatically take you back to the main menu where you can select other games to play.  Lastly, there is a volume key which provides up to four different levels of sound which comes through the loudspeaker located behind the unit.

Behind the unit you can find your power switch as well as your battery bay which holds up to three AA batteries.

The Dreamgear Retro Arcade Machine X also comes with a 2.5 inch color display. The device only weighs a paltry 0.1 pounds and it can literally fit in the palm of your hand. This little gadget is ideal for the nostalgic video game collector and it makes a great desk piece at the office in your home office or simply on the coffee table in your man cave.

After playing with some of the games you will no doubt recognize the similarity between some of the games in this library of 300 and some of the popular licensed Arcade games from the 80’s and 90’s.

In addition to the Arcade Machine X there are also three other portable game consoles that are available from Dream Gear today that also have preinstalled games.  They all require AA batteries to work as well. Let’s look at them now.

The Gamer X Portable Game Console looks like a mini Sony Playstation Portable (PSP).  It has a 2.5 inch screen which is suitable for playing 16-bit graphics games, and comes with a D-Pad on the left and two action buttons labelled “A” and “B” respectively on the right hand side of the unit.  The familiar start and reset buttons are located just above the action buttons.  One nice little feature of the gamer portable game console is that it also comes with a A/V jack making it possible for you to connect this little gaming system up to a large screen television.  There is also a 3.5 mm audio jack as well so you can hook up a pair of earbuds or headphones to this thing while playing your favorite car racing game.  It also comes with 220 games.

The My Arcade Go Gamer Portable is pretty much the same as the Gamer X Portable with one small difference – the form factor makes it look more like a Game Boy.  It comes with 220 games and has the same D-Pad, action buttons and the like.  It also has a 3.5  mm audio jack and A/V ports for a connection to a television set.  The A/V cable would have to be purchased separately.

The Gamer V Portable Handheld Gaming System has a similar look at feel to the Gamer X Portable and it even has the same 220 games pre-installed.  The look of the D-Pad and buttons is a bit different to its cousin however.

All of these systems, including the Dream Gear Retro Arcade Machine X, are very affordable indeed and they make great gifts for anyone who simply loves video games.  You can but them from Amazon here if you are interested.
